CleanEx Tutorial

Generating two experiments pools from MeSH term or keywords search

CleanEx datasets are annotated with MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) terms. If you are familiar with MeSH, you can search datasets directly via official MeSH terms. Otherwise, you can make a free text search in the datasets annotations.
If you are less experienced with MeSH terms you can also use the Walking down the MeSH tree experiments selection system.

Select your search type :
  • MeSH Terms Search
  • Free Text Search
Select organism :
  • Homo sapiens
  • Mus musculus

Enter your query in the two boxes below. Separate your search term with either one of the following operator words :
  1. AND
  2. BUT NOT
  3. OR
The AND and BUT NOT operators limit retrieval and the OR operator expands it. The search terms are combined using the operator which separates them.
The example shown below will extract from CleanEx the Human experiments containing the MeSH terms "Colon" and "Neoplasms" but not the ones containing the term "Neoplasm Metastasis" for pool one, and the Human experiments containing the MeSH terms "Colon" and "Neoplasm Metastasis" for pool two
Note that the search is case insensitive, but that the operator terms have to be written in upper case.
